Flying Bags | Centro Gumilla's Award

The Gumilla Center, the research and social action center of Jesuits in Venezuela, organized the first photo contest to choose the picture of the 4th Meeting of Peace Builders. Here is the winning photo, one that I showed on Flying Bags post, with children flying bags instead of kites.

El Centro Gumilla, el centro de investigación y acción social de los Jesuítas en Venezuela, organizó el primer concurso de fotografìa para elegir la imagen del 4to Encuentro de Constructores de Paz. Aquí está la foto ganadora, una de las que mostré en el post Flying Bags en la que aparecían niños del Barrio San Agustín volando bolsas en lugar de cometas.

Palmeros de Chacao | Little Palmers

Since 1770, the palm leaves that are used to celebrate Palm Sunday are downloaded from Ávila Montain by Los Palmeros of Chacao (Palmers of Chacao). A tradition that began, like most, by a miracle: in the year 1770, laborers on the estates took palm leaves from Ávila Mountain and gave them to those affected by a plague that was ravaging the city. And the miracle did it.

Desde 1770, las hojas de palma que se usan para celebrar el Domingo de Ramos son bajadas desde la montaña de El Ávila por Los Palmeros de Chacao. Una tradición que comenzó, como casi todas, por un milagro: en ese año 1770, los peones de las haciendas bajaron hojas de palma para repartirlas a los afectados por una peste que azotaba a la ciudad. Y se hizo el milagro.
